PUTRAJAYA: The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry has successfully implemented reforms in the delivery of general assistance across 11 states by streamlining the programme's payment system.
This was made possible through collaboration among the Welfare Department, the Accountant General's Department and participating state governments.
Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri expressed her appreciation to all those involved in making the collaboration a success.
"The reforms have streamlined the aid payment system, which previously used manual voucher methods, reducing the risk of misappropriation and ensuring systematic monitoring," she said.
The reform consisted of integrating the eBantuanJKM database of recipients and iSPEKS state financial accounting systems, allowing for seamless payments without manual intervention.
In a statement, the ministry said the collaboration between the federal and state governments would ensure the distribution process was more transparent, efficient, and effective.
"This initiative reflects the government's ambition to reform the civil service, making it faster, more agile and dynamic," it said.
