RM1 billion boost for Ikhtiar Sejati Madani programme

KUALA LUMPUR: The governnent has allocated RM1 bilion ringgit for an expanded Ikhtiar Sejati Madani programme for rural development.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said RM600 million of that amount will boost the rural economy in villages, towns and Orang Asli settlements.

"Another RM200 million is to expand Kampung Angkat Madani programmes in 200 villages nationwide.

"RM100 million of the allocation is going to public universities to join the Kampung Angkat Madani programme with TVET institutions so they can provide services such as house repairs and electrical wiring to the community," he said in the 2025 Budget in Parliament today.

Anwar said another RM100 million will empower People's Housing Project (PPR) communities across the country through various socioeconomic programmes.
