2025 Budget: RM150mil allocated to clear drains, rivers to mitigate flash floods [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: An immediate allocation of RM150 million to local authorities and the Department of Irrigation and Drainage to commence cleaning works for drains and dredging rivers in cities affected by flash floods.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who also serves as Finance Minister, said this while presenting the 2025 Budget (Belanjawan 2025) in Parliament today.

At the same time, the national disaster management continues to be improved alongside the expedited implementation of flood mitigation projects involving cooperation from all contractors, said Anwar.

Anwar said nearly RM600 million has been allocated to the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) as preparation to face flood disasters.

This includes over RM300 million that has been set aside for preparedness in case of disasters occurring at any time.
