2025 Budget: e-Rebates to encourage switch to energy-efficient appliances

KUALA LUMPUR: The government is allocating RM70 million for e-rebates to encourage consumers and businesses to purchase energy-efficient appliances.

In tabling Budget 2025 (Belanjawan 2025) today, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the government was also allocating over RM300 million to National Energy Transition Facilitation Fund next year.

This is an increase from the RM100 million allocated for 2024.

Anwar also said Energy Performance Contracts will be introduced for use by all government agencies to achieve electricity bill savings of up to 10 per cent.

He also announced that solar panels will be installed on rooftop spaces along nearly 5km of pedestrian walkways and parking areas in Putrajaya.

Meanwhile, Anwar said the Green Technology Financing Scheme will continue, with a financing amount of RM1 billion until 2026.
