KUALA LUMPUR: A total of RM13 billion has been allocated for the Rahmah Cash Aid (STR) and Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (Sara) initiatives for 2025.
The two programmes will benefit nine million Malaysians.
In tabling 2025 Budget (Belanjawan 2025) today, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said 4.1 million eligible STR recipients will receive Sara of RM100 per month, compared to the 700,000 recipients this year.
Single individuals will receive RM600 under STR, while households will receive RM4,600, up from the maximum of RM3,700 for 2024.
Meanwhile, Anwar also announced that RM2.9 billion has been allocated for cash aid under the Social Welfare Department, up from the RM2.4 billion allocation this year.
This will see an increase in aid for the elderly from RM500 a month to RM600 a month amongst others.
