2025 Budget: RM1bil allocated to address cost of living issue: PM

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of RM1 billion has been allocated to implement broader measures to address the cost of living issue.

Speaking during the tabling of Budget 2025, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said this includes an enhanced allocation of RM300 million for the Payung Rahmah programme, up from RM200 million.

The Jualan Rahmah programme will be intensified to offer essential goods at affordable prices in all state assembly districts each month, he added.

"Additionally, RM700 million is earmarked to expand other cost of living programs aimed at controlling prices, including collaborations with supermarket operators, wholesalers, retail stores, farmers' markets, cooperatives, and others.

"Furthermore, RM250 million is allocated for distributing essential goods in rural and village areas, including expanding to new areas in Magandai, Kota Marudu, and Nanga Pelawan, Bintulu, " said Anwar.
