ALOR STAR: Kulim Technology Park Corporation (KTPC), the developer and manager of Kulim Hi-Tech Park (KHTP), has praised the federal government for its ongoing support for the park's expansion.
KTPC CEO Datuk Mohd Sahil Zabidi has expressed gratitude for the government's backing, saying that it would enhance KHTP's appeal as a prime destination for high-impact investments and create valuable job opportunities for local talent.
"On behalf of the KTPC management, we are thankful for the continued support for KHTP's expansion, which aligns with its status as a high-impact national project. This will significantly boost KHTP's attractiveness for investment while generating high-value jobs for the local workforce," he said.
His comments came in response to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's announcement that the government will continue to support industrial areas, including the expansion of KHTP.
While presenting the 2025 Budget in Parliament today, Anwar, who is also finance minister, confirmed that the government would not pursue mega projects.
Instead, he said the focus was on people-centric initiatives and support for industrial areas based on state priorities, which includes expanding KHTP to accommodate semiconductor manufacturers like Infineon Technologies AG.
Sahil also welcomed Anwar's announcement regarding the construction of an additional building for Kulim Hospital.
"The added hospital beds at Kulim Hospital, situated within the KHTP area, reflect the federal government's ongoing commitment to the welfare and health of the local community, particularly as the KHTP population continues to grow due to industrial advancements," he said.
KTPC is a private limited company wholly owned by Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Kedah (PKNK) and is responsible for the development and management of KHTP, a national project funded by the government.
