Fahmi: Kampung Angkat Madani keeps govt officials 'grounded'

KUALA LUMPUR: Fahmi Fadzil has chosen Kampung Tebat Kering in Kuala Pilah to "adopt" as part of the Kampung Angkat Madani programme.

Speaking on the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's vision for the initiative, the communications minister said it was important to focus beyond physical improvements, targeting community issues such as education challenges, unemployment and social problems.

"The prime minister's message was clear — spend more time and stay grounded, understanding the people's problems and working to help," he told reporters after the Fiesta Deepavali 2024 at IWK Eco Park @ Pantai Dalam today.

Fahmi said local members of parliament, state assemblymen and the villagers themselves could be listened to by those involved in the programme and extended help.

On Friday, Anwar announced RM200 million for 200 villages currently in the Kampung Angkat Madani programme in the 2025 Budget.
