111 cadets complete MACC basic officer course

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 111 cadet officers from the Assistant Superintendent cohort have successfully completed the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Basic Officer Course, Series 28, Batch 1 of 2023.

The nine-month programme includes accreditation for the MACC basic course and a Professional Diploma in International Law Enforcement: Anti-Corruption Studies (Level 5).

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Academy (MACA) director Datuk Saiful Ezral Arifin said that the cadets would receive a postgraduate diploma in international law upon completing the required course modules.

"MACC is dedicated to producing well-trained officers equipped with legal knowledge, investigative skills, and character development to enhance public confidence in our efforts to combat corruption, abuse of power, and misconduct.

"This programme has been a collaborative effort between MACC and Nottingham Trent University, UK, since 2018," he said in a statement today.

Saiful also said that the cadets passed a polygraph test, a key requirement for entering the basic course, ensuring that candidates possessed high levels of integrity to serve as MACC officers.

He said that MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki would be attending the graduation ceremony on Thursday.

"This marks the first time the ceremony will be held at MACC's new basic training centre in Bandar Enstek, Nilai, Negri Sembilan.

"This facility is the first training centre owned by MACC and managed by MACA, designed to enhance the efficiency and professionalism of our officers and staff through targeted training programmes," he added.

Saiful said that the training centre was handed over to MACC by the Prime Minister's Department Property Management Division on Nov 1 last year.

The centre can accommodate some 200 cadets and is equipped with essential facilities, including a parade ground, dormitories, lecture halls, a cafeteria, a surau, and rest areas.

He expressed MACC's deep gratitude to the Prime Minister and the government for their unwavering support, which includes financial allocations, staffing, logistics, and trust, all aimed at achieving the anti-corruption agenda's goal of ranking in the top 25 on the Corruption Perception Index within the next decade.
