KUALA NERUS (Terengganu): The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is ready to expand its Volunteer Student Cadet Corps (Kor Suar) programme to more public universities.
Its chief commissioner, Tan Sri Azam Baki, said this expansion depended on applications from other public higher education institutions interested in offering the co-curricular course.
He said that so far, MACC had received requests for holding the programme from several public universities, which are under consideration.
"MACC prioritises UniSZA (Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin) as it a pioneer of the programme.
"But if there is an application from any public university that is interested (in offering this course), we will discuss (with the institution) and develop a similar module (like the one provided for UniSZA) with some improvements," he said.
He said this after the training completion and commissioning ceremony for Young Integrity Officers/Kor Suar Cadets Cohort 2/2024 at the Al-Muktafi Billah Shah Hall, UniSZA, here today.
Present were UniSZA Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni) Datuk Associate Professor Dr Mohd Hafiz Yusoff, and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International), who also serves as the Commander of Kor Suar UniSZA, Professor Dr Zuhairah Ariff Abd Ghadas.
At the ceremony, 39 Kor Suar cadets completed a four-semester course and qualified to be recognised as Young Integrity Officers by the Certified Integrity Officer Recognition Board.
Azam said the course would be strengthened by introducing arms training programmes to instil patriotism and anti-corruption values into graduates, preparing them as future leaders.
"I expect that in future, this course will become an added value for students upon completing their education," he said.
