Anwar to meet Grand Imam of Al-Azhar again

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will again be meeting the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Prof Dr Ahmed Mohammed Al-Tayyib soon.

In a Facebook post, Anwar said this is an effort to develop understanding and scholarly traditions that can transform the inner strength of Muslims.

He said the plan for the meeting was discussed in his meeting with the Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Elders, Muhamed Abdul Salam in Putrajaya, today.

"We have discussed plans for the next meeting with the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Fadhilatul Imam Al-Akbar Dr Ahmed Al-Tayyib in the near future, in further development of the discussion on the theme of his previous speech in Kuala Lumpur entitled 'Modesty of Muslims, Lessons from ' Past and Future Challenges'," said the Prime Minister.

Earlier, Anwar described Grand Imam's special visit to Malaysia from July 2 to 5, as a great honour to the country for receiving the visit of a great figure and imam who is respected and venerated in the Muslim world.
