KUALA LUMPUR: Kitster, the husky abused by a professional badminton player, has found a new home with businessman Datuk Seri Sunny Ung.
The Stray Free Foundation announced the adoption in a recent post on X, highlighting Ung's significant role in the online campaign for justice following the shooting of Kopi, a stray dog known for its playful antics with kittens.
"Kitster has been officially adopted. His new dad, Datuk Seri Sunny, is the driving force behind #justiceforkopi," said the foundation.
They expressed their best wishes for Kitster's future, hoping for a life filled with love, happiness, and adventures with his new owner.
The foundation also shared a letter from the Selangor Department of Veterinary Services approving Ung's adoption application for the husky.
In August, Samuel Lee, 21, was charged with repeatedly beating a dog on the balcony of his home at Landmark Residence, Kajang, between 12.09am and 12.19am on July 1.
The incident, recorded by a neighbour, quickly went viral on social media, sparking public outrage.
Lee was subsequently fined RM25,000 or, in default, sentenced to six months' imprisonment by the Sessions Court after pleading guilty.
He faced charges under Section 29(1)(a) of the Animal Welfare Act 2015, which carries a maximum penalty of three years in prison or a fine of RM100,000 upon conviction.
