KOTA BARU: Eighteen people have been hospitalised after eating tandoori chicken at a restaurant in Pengkalan Chepa.
There were among 108 people who fell sick after eating the dish at the restaurant, suffering from diarrhoea, abdominal pain, fever, dizziness and vomiting.
Kelantan health director Datuk Dr Zaini Hussin said 50 people received outpatient treatment, while the rest did not seek medical attention.
Zaini said those who fell sick ate at the restaurant on Oct 17, and that the department was alerted to the food poisoning cases the next day.
He said health officers inspected the restaurant on Oct 19.
"The restaurant has 18 food handlers, and 16 food and water samples have been taken for analysis."
Zaini said the restaurant had been ordered to close.
"This was the second incident reported in this restaurant, the first was in January this year."
