KUALA LUMPUR: An opposition member of parliament has called on the government not to simply announce anything without a clear framework.
Putrajaya MP Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin said the government should discuss matters properly by engaging with all stakeholders and considering all factors.
"Make sure all concepts, elements and contexts are taken into account before making an announcement.
"When situations like this persist, if we (the opposition) address this issue, we are accused of politicising it. When the people question, they are told that it was incorrect.
"So, what is the correct information? Show us what is right," he said when debating the 2025 Supply Bill in Dewan Rakyat today.
Citing an example, Radzi said the government has yet to have precise definition of T15, or the top 15 per cent segment in society, which is a new classification of a group who will experience a gradual reduction in subsidies as part of the government's efforts to redistribute resources more effectively.
"During the tabling of the 2025 Budget, a new term was announced; T15. However, there has been no further explanation regarding what T15 means.
"On Oct 20, the economy minister said it (the classification) will not rely solely on gross household income.
"However, on Tuesday, the prime minister, in reply to a question on eradicating hardcore poverty (in Dewan Rakyat), said per capita income will be used to determine which households fall into hardcore poverty bracket.
"How chaotic the government's policies are."
"Therefore, I urge the government to stop this confusion in policy. What is the point of announcing uncertain things? This isn't just flip-flopping; it is like a roundabout, going in circles without any clear explanation," he said.
