Sabah champions engineering advancement for sustainable future

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah fully supports engineering advancement through digital technology and sustainable practices that protect the environment for future generations.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said that engineering was not just about building infrastructure; it was about shaping the future.

"Like many regions in Asean, Sabah is experiencing rapid development. Our infrastructure, economy, and industries rely heavily on engineers who can tackle our unique challenges.

"From creating resilient infrastructure to promoting sustainable practices, engineers are central to our efforts for a prosperous future for Sabah and Malaysia," he said after the closing ceremony of the Conference of the Asean Federation of Engineering Organisations (CAFEO 42) at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) tonight.

Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun also delivered remarks during the event.

Hajiji said that engineering was vital to realising Sabah's vision of becoming a logistics and infrastructure hub for the Asean region, facilitating the flow of goods, services, and talent.

"Our commitment to expanding infrastructure — whether through road connectivity, ports, or digital initiatives — will strengthen our connections within Malaysia and across Asean," he said, adding that the collaborations formed at CAFEO 42 could help propel Sabah to become a key player in Asean's growth story.
