KOTA BELUD: Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) has unveiled its manifesto ahead of the 17th Sabah State Election (PRN17), which is expected to be held soon.
Its president Datuk Peter Anthony announced five key manifesto points during the party's PRN17 election machinery launch in Papar two weeks ago and in Kota Belud yesterday (Oct 27).
The five points cover education, elderly welfare, public housing, land ownership, and the re-establishment of the Amanah Saham Sabah.
Peter added that KDM's early manifesto release is part of a unique approach to gain public support ahead of the official campaign period.
"In Papar, I announced three manifesto points for PRN17 and added two more today (yesterday)," he said at the launch of the election machinery for the Kadamaian constituency yesterday.
Peter, who is also the Melalap State Assemblyman, announced plans to allocate land to Sabahans without land if KDM wins.
He added that the manifesto includes a review of past land allocations to large corporations and improvements to the Native Customary Rights land management system.
Another manifesto item includes the revival of Amanah Saham Sabah to provide financial benefits for Sabah's 3.4 million residents.
At the PRN17 launch in Limbahau two weeks ago, Peter pledged free education and scholarships for Sabahans, monthly elderly assistance of RM500, and housing for those without homes.
KDM aims to contest 35 to 40 seats, focusing on Kadazandusun and Murut-majority areas, hoping to be the 'kingmaker' in forming the next Sabah government.
