No leakages in food supply tender to armed forces, says PM

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has denied claims that there were leakages in the tender distribution of food supply to the Malaysian Armed Forces.

The matter was raised yesterday by Datuk Dr Nik Muhammad Zawawi Salleh (PN-Pasir Puteh) when debating the 2025 Supply Bill in Parliament.

Anwar, during Prime Minister's Question Time in the Dewan Rakyat today, criticised his actions and described him as making baseless allegations without facts on the issue.

"We must be careful. We shouldn't hurl accusations without facts, like how Pasir Puteh said before, claiming that the finance minister did not follow governance procedures in the distribution of contracts to D'Saji and Bukit Gantang.

"This is not true at all. I signed it, I would know. Where did you hear that from? From TikTok? And the other source? WhatsApp? Not referring to facts.

"When talking in the name of Islam, you refer to the Quran, but when you are criticising, you don't care."

He was responding to a supplementary question from the Pas member of parliament on the reporting and audit mechanism to ensure transparency in the targeted subsidies for RON95 and dividend tax exemptions.

Anwar, who is also finance minister, stressed that he would not compromise on the issue of governance.

"So do not twist, distort or make unfounded accusations in this house," he added.

Yesterday, Nik Muhammad Zawawi claimed that he had information from a WhatsApp conversation allegedly between Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul (PN-Bukit Gantang) and an officer regarding the tender in question.

He alleged that Syed Abu Hussin had applied for the tender through a company and had "clashed" with the application from Felda's D'Saji Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Koperasi Permodalan Felda Malaysia Bhd.

He also claimed that in the conversation with an officer, there was a sentence saying "bahagian Datuk pun ada" (you also have your part), as if indicating that there were elements of corruption or power abuse in the tender.
