UPNM cadet officer injured, allegedly bullied by senior

KUALA LUMPUR: A second-year cadet officer at the Military Training Academy (ALK), National Defence University of Malaysia (UPNM), Sungai Besi, is believed to have recently become a victim of bullying and abuse.

According to sources, it is understood that the victim, an engineering student, was allegedly bullied by a senior student.

"However, the matter was uncovered after a routine inspection conducted by the on-duty trainer, who noticed injuries on the victim's body," the source told Harian Metro.

Meanwhile, Armed Forces chief General Tan Sri Mohammad Ab Rahman, when contacted, said his office would release a media statement regarding the incident.

Previously, in 2017, the country was shocked by the tragic death of UPNM cadet officer Zulfarhan Osman Zulkarnain, who died from being bullied, beaten, and tortured, with most of his body repeatedly pressed with a steam iron.

Following this, six former UPNM students were sentenced to death by hanging by the Court of Appeal on July 23 for the murder of Zulfarhan.
