KUALA LUMPUR: The armed forces have confirmed that an investigation has been launched into an alleged bullying case involving a second-year cadet officer at the Military Training Academy (ALK), National Defence University of Malaysia (UPNM), Sungai Besi.
In a statement last night, the armed forces said the investigation is being conducted by the Military Training Academy at the university.
The armed forces acknowledged reports circulating on alternative media and social media about an incident involving a cadet who was allegedly bullied and abused by a senior officer using a heated iron, which reportedly left burn marks on his chest.
"The armed forces would like to stress that a thorough investigation will be conducted and that we will not protect and compromise with all the parties involved with the case.
"Strict disciplinary or legal action will be taken against those involved if found guilty," the statement said.
It was reported yesterday that the cadet officer at the university was believed to have recently become a victim of bullying and abuse.
According to sources, it is understood that the victim, an engineering student, was allegedly bullied by a senior student.
"However, the matter was uncovered after a routine inspection conducted by the on-duty trainer, who noticed injuries on the victim's body."
