KUALA LUMPUR: Japan has pledged its support for Malaysia's upcoming Asean chairmanship in 2025, reaffirming its commitment to regional stability and collaboration.
This assurance was conveyed during a high-level discussion between Malaysia's Foreign Minister, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, and his Japanese counterpart, Takeshi Iwaya, on Wednesday.
Malaysia's Foreign Ministry, in a post on its official Facebook page, said that the two leaders exchanged views on a range of regional and international issues of mutual concern.
"Foreign Minister Iwaya reaffirmed Japan's support for Malaysia's upcoming chairmanship of Asean in 2025," the post stated.
Beyond Asean matters, both nations reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Malaysia and Japan, particularly in trade and investment, defence and security, and the Look East Policy.– BERNAMA
