HULU SELANGOR: A food premises was ordered to close, while another was issued three compounds after checks by authorities found the premises infested with cockroaches and mosquito larvae.
During an integrated operation dubbed Op Suci on Monday, the Hulu Selangor Municipal Council (MPHS) also found that the premises in Batang Kali had chicken eggs that were not properly cleaned.
The integrated operation was conducted by the municipal Solid Waste Management and Public Cleaning Department, in collaboration with the Enforcement Department and the Building Department and the Licencing Department.
The operation involved 21 personnel to inspect the cleanliness of the premises.
"The inspection revealed cross-contamination in the refrigerator used for storing cooking ingredients, food handlers not wearing closed-toe shoes, as well as dusty, cobweb-covered walls.
"Moreover, the premises also failed to implement pest control registered with the Malaysian Pesticide Board, along with several other violations related to food premises cleanliness under MPHS standards," the municipal council said in a Facebook post.
Three compounds were issued under by-laws 9, 34, 19(1)(d) and one closure notice under by-laws 62 of the Food Establishment Licensing By-Laws.
"It is hoped that this strict action serves as a warning to other food premises owners and operators to ensure the cleanliness and safety of food in their establishments for the well-being of consumers."
