'Sharing old videos, images of floods during monsoon causes confusion among people'

KUANTAN: People are urged not to spread inaccurate information during the northeast monsoon, which began yesterday and continues until March.

Pahang Civil Defence Force director Colonel Che Adam A. Rahman said today: "Sharing old images and videos of floods, including in areas that were not affected, will only create confusion among people.

"Only share information or statements issued by the authorities, such as those from the Malaysian Meteorological Department.

"During the monsoon season, old images or videos of floods are circulated.

"In reality, none of the places shown in the images was hit by floods," he said when contacted.

Che Adam said that people should verify the messages, images and videos they receive on social media during the monsoon season.

"Forwarding information to others too quickly might cause trouble."
