KUANTAN: Lipis has become the second district in Pahang to be hit by northeast monsoon floods, forcing 219 people from 62 families to be evacuated to two temporary relief centres (PPS) today.
A state Civil Defence Force spokesman said, as of 10am, Pahang has a total of 447 evacuees from 129 families seeking shelter at eight PPS in Lipis and Raub.
"The two PPS operating in Lipis are SK Kechau Tui with 133 victims while Semai Bakti Felda Kechau hall has 86 people.
"The flood situation in Raub has worsened with 228 people from 67 families seeking shelter at six relief centres in the district compared to only 99 people at two relief centres early yesterday," he said.
He said although the weather has improved, water flowing from upstream areas was causing the low areas to be inundated.
The Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, is scheduled to visit flood victims at PPS Tok Machang in Raub this afternoon.
