PM set for busy week in Middle East, South America [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is set to embark on a diplomatic tour beginning with Cairo, Egypt, at the invitation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

Following his engagements in Cairo, Anwar will proceed to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he will attend the Arab-Islamic Summit.

"The summit will address pressing issues, including the ongoing conflicts in Palestine and Lebanon, as well as other regional developments," he said in a Facebook posting today.

Upon completing his itinerary in Cairo and Riyadh, Anwar will lead the Malaysian delegation to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) 2024 Summit in Lima, Peru.

The final leg of his tour will take him to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, at the invitation of Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, to participate in the G20 Summit.

"Pray that my journey and that of the Malaysian delegation will be eased and that all upcoming meetings will bring substantial benefits to the people and the nation," he said.
