KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim arrived in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to attend the Extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit scheduled for today (Nov 11).
In a post on Facebook, Anwar stated that he had arrived safely at the King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh from Cairo, Egypt, as he highlighted the urgency in addressing the escalating violence and brutal attacks by Israel on Palestine and Lebanon.
"Alhamdulillah, I have arrived in Riyadh at the invitation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, for the Extraordinary Arab and Islamic Summit.
"We gather here to urgently address the escalating violence and brutal attacks by the Zionist regime on our Palestinian and Lebanese brothers and sisters.
"I extend Malaysia's deepest appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its leadership in convening this crucial summit.
"Let us unite in our resolve to stand against oppression and pray that our collective efforts bring justice by and peace to the oppressed, Insya-Allah," said Anwar via a post on his Facebook page.
Upon his arrival at the airport, Anwar received a warm welcome from the Deputy Governor of Riyadh Region Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz and Riyadh Region Mayor Prince Dr Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf.
Anwar also received a guard of honour.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to return to Cairo to continue a series of pre-planned engagements with Malaysian and Egyptian delegations. — BERNAMA
