Brave neighbours battle flames to save family in condo fire [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: A group of residents living in Platinum Splendor Condominium on Jalan Padang Tembak deserve a medal for their bravery in saving a family from a fire.

One of the units on the 22nd floor had caught fire, and the residents immediately took matters into their own hands, quickly trying to douse the flames with a water hose from their units while waiting for the fire department to arrive.

A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media.

Netizens have applauded the unity and togetherness displayed by the neighbors in their efforts to extinguish the fire.

In the video, a few people can be seen splashing water from a long hose into the burning unit through one of the windows.

Eight residents, including four children, were safely evacuated, but three sustained minor injuries.

A Fire and Rescue Department spokesman, in a statement today, said they were alerted to the fire at the condominium at 4.04pm.

Two teams, with about 16 firefighters from Keramat and Tun Razak, rushed to the scene.

"Upon arriving, we found that one of the units was on fire. Firefighters fought the fire until it was completely extinguished and provided first aid to the three injured residents before they were taken to Kuala Lumpur Hospital," he said in the statement.

The statement added that the exact cause of the fire has yet to be determined and is still under investigation by the department's forensics unit.
