BUTTERWORTH: DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke said Gobind Singh Deo, who failed to secure a position in the Selangor DAP 2024-2027 committee yesterday, will continue to play an important role as the national deputy chairman.
"Just because of his defeat yesterday does not mean he has to step aside as national deputy chairman. Definitely not.
"He will continue to represent the party in the cabinet," he said here today.
Loke said Gobind's defeat came as a surprise.
He said this was normal in any democratic process.
"I think he (Gobind) made his statement yesterday that he accepted the delegates' decision with an open heart.
"That is the spirit of DAP leaders and I thank Gobind for his contributions to Selangor DAP all these years."
In the Selangor DAP election, the digital minister did not make the cut for the 2024-2027 committee.
The Damansara member of parliament polled 675 votes and did not make it to the top 15, pushing him out of the committee.
Loke was met after the memorandum of agreement signing ceremony between Railway Assets Corp (RAC) and the Penang Housing Board and the heads of agreement signing ceremony between RAC and Rivanis Ventures for redevelopment of the Kampung Manis land.
