Pos Malaysia to add 1,092 electric bikes to fleet

GURUN: Pos Malaysia will receive 1,092 more units of electric motorcycles to boost its sustainability initiative.

Pos Malaysia group chief marketing, communications and sustainability officer Fiona Liao said the fleet expansion underscored the company's commitment to full electrification of its first and last mile delivery fleet by 2030, in line with its goal of Net Zero by 2050.

"At Pos Malaysia, we are mindful of our responsibility to reduce our environmental impact and actively do better for the planet.

"This is why in March 2023 we unveiled our Sustainability Roadmap with an ambition to achieve Net Zero by 2050, making us the first logistics company in Malaysia to make that commitment.

"Since then, we have been on a mission to turn our operations greener and more sustainable, fully supporting and aligning with our country's broader climate goals.

"Central to our path to Net Zero is the introduction and transition to electric vehicles with the additional e-bikes from our strategic partners Modenas and Avis.

"We are confident that our expanded EV fleet will allow us to deliver more safely and efficiently, while contributing to cleaner air and a healthier environment for the communities we serve."

She said this at the MEV-1 PRO e-bikes handing over ceremony with Modenas chief executive officer Roslan Roskan at the Modenas plant here today.

Under the collaboration, Modenas will assemble and supply MEV-1 PRO for Pos Malaysia, while DRB-Hicom EZ-Drive Sdn Bhd (Avis) will provide leasing services.

Liao said the e-bikes, which will be delivered in phases, would strengthen Pos Malaysia's position as the largest EV fleet in the nation's logistics sector, with 220 e-bikes and 143 electric vans.

Roslan said the MEV-1 PRO was produced to provide an efficient solution for businesses like Pos Malaysia that need vehicles capable of handling daily logistics with reliability and power.

"Our MEV-1 PRO has proven itself in rigorous conditions, from durability to battery efficiency and load capacity.

"With a maximum power of 4.3 kW and superior climbing capabilities, it's specifically designed to handle the high demands of logistics, including carrying up to 250kg, even on steep inclines.

"In quarter one 2025, we will introduce a more affordable electric motorcycle model to the market, catering to individual consumers who seek accessible, eco-friendly transport options."
