LIPIS: Frightened Orang Asli villagers at Pos Lenjang near here have chosen to restrict their outdoor activities including working on their farms following sightings of a tiger roaming the nearby Kampung Setiq.
A group of villagers who regularly used the Pos Lenjang road in the settlement had claimed that they spotted the animal resting among some bushes yesterday evening.
Plantation owner Norfini Ajik, 49, said since news about the tiger sighting broke out in the village, many choose not to step outside their home and some stayed away from attending to their farms today.
"Yesterday, a villager who was passing along the road managed to capture a video of the animal and it was shared among the villagers. After watching the video, some villagers who were out at their banana, coconut and durian farms rushed back home.
"We hope Perhilitan (Department of Wildlife Protection and National) will set up a trap soon to help capture the animal. The tiger was spotted along the main road which is daily utilised by villagers living in Pos Lenjang," he said when contacted today.
