KUALA LUMPUR: The Regent of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, and his younger brother, Tunku Panglima Johor, Tunku Abdul Rahman Al-Haj Sultan Ibrahim, along with the Johor Military Forces, conducted a military exercise today with the Special Forces Group (Gerup Gerak Khas) and other units.
The Special Forces Group (GGK) is a premier special operations unit under the Malaysian Armed Forces, renowned for its elite status and the unwavering commitment of its personnel to undertake any mission, no matter how challenging.
Based in Sungai Udang, Melaka, and Mersing, Johor, GGK is one of the most respected military units in the country.
The GGK is known for its high level of readiness and expertise, having participated in joint training exercises with other elite forces from around the world. These include collaborations with Indonesia's KOPASSUS (Army Special Forces), Australia's Special Air Service, Britain's Special Air Service, Pakistan's Special Services Group, and the United States' Delta Force and Green Berets.
Through these international partnerships, the GGK continues to refine its skills and strengthen its capabilities in counter-terrorism, hostage rescue, and other high-stakes operations. The unit's reputation for excellence is built on its ability to execute complex missions under extreme conditions, making it one of the most formidable special forces in the region.
In a Facebook post on Tunku Ismail's official page, photos of their participation in some of the exercises - kitted out in military gear alongside members of 21 Gerup Gerak Khas - were shared, drawing positive comments from netizens.
From the looks of it, the exercises covered a wide range of intensive training, including a mock hostage situation, abseiling from helicopters, live-fire shooting drills, field training, and the use of various weapons and explosives.
In less than two hours since they were posted, the photos had already gained over 5,000 likes and hundreds of comments.
One comment from Jagjit Singh read: "You are a true soldier and a good leader. Daulat Tuanku."
Another commenter, Siti Aminah, wrote: "Daulat Tuanku. Awesome." The majority of the comments were praises for both royalties, with many concluding with "Daulat Tuanku".
