KOTA KINABALU: Videos purportedly implicating Sabah assemblymen in graft activities are likely aimed at weakening the current government, said state Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
When asked about the fourth episode released by Malaysia Kini, which featured Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Shahelmey Yahya, Hajiji said he had yet to watch it.
The video was released around the same time Sabah tabled its 2025 Budget at the state legislative assembly building, which began at 3pm.
"I cannot comment. I will let the relevant authorities investigate this issue, as it seems to have certain motives.
"This move is likely intended to weaken the government. But I would like to emphasise that the government of the day remains solid," he told the media after the tabling.
Commenting on the 2025 Budget, Hajiji described it as a good budget that focuses on, and will propel, economic growth in agriculture, tourism, and industry.
He added that the budget also emphasises human capital development, assistance to students at higher learning institutions, and the welfare of the people.
For the poor and hardcore poor, Hajiji said they would receive RM300 per month for a year, at a total cost of about RM400 million.
Earlier, Sabah Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun tabled the highest-ever Sabah Budget in history for 2025.
In addition to salary revisions, the budget proposes a minimum of RM3,000 or one month's salary in assistance for Sabah government servants.
