KUANTAN: Flood victims are no longer required to manually register their stay at relief centres as they can now do so by logging into the Social Welfare Department's MyIBJKM application using their mobile phones.
Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad said the app was introduced in August to help flood evacuees register and locate relief centres in real-time.
"Those living in flood-prone areas are encouraged to download the MyIBJKM app and fill up all the required details, including the names of their family members.
"It will be convenient when they have to evacuate their homes to a relief centre. They can refer to the application to get updates on the nearest locations, capacity and availability.
"They no longer need to stand in long queues outside a centre to register manually. Those using the application will only be required to scan the QR code provided at the relief centres and all the information will be automatically registered.
"All particulars provided through the application will make it easier for the Social Welfare Department to manage the evacuees, update the number at relief centres, provide aid and make arrangements for victims," she said after visiting the Pahang Social Welfare Department food supply depot here today.
Noraini said flood victims would be required to use the application to check-in and check-out the relief centre.
"The check-in and check-out features will display the number of days the victim and his family have spent at the relief centre. They can also print out the details, especially for those who are required to provide proof to their employers.
"In case of floods, the public will also be able to identify which relief centre is available and if a respective centre is full, they will be redirected to an alternative centre in the vicinity.
"Flood victims will no longer be left stranded or forced to drive around looking for a relief centre with available spaces," she said.
Users can download the MyIBJKM application from Google PlayStore and App store.
