PUTRAJAYA: The government has established the Special Task Force on Agency Reform (STAR) to overcome bureaucratic hurdles often encountered by the public and businesses.
Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar said this will drive swift and effective reforms within the public sector.
He said the task force is committed to a practical, results-driven approach to improve speed and efficiency in public service delivery.
"Its mission is to tackle bureaucratic inefficiencies head-on, streamline project execution, and create additional value in public sector operations.
"The initiative, which aims to improve transparency and responsiveness, is expected to reduce red tape and simplify interactions for the public and companies alike," he said in a recent interview with the Media Prima group.
He said the overall effort aims to overhaul existing business regulations and streamline processes in public service would ultimately boost efficiency and service quality.
Shamsul Azri said team members will work across ministries and agencies to swiftly resolve issues, whether they stem from outdated regulations, procedural delays, or other inefficiencies.
He said the task force, which is part of the broader Public Service Reform Agenda (2024-2030), would also help further drive several measures introduced aimed at modernising the public sector.
"STAR's efforts are not limited to improving internal workflows but are intended to make a noticeable difference in the public's experience with government services."
