RIO DE JANEIRO: Yinson's floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) project in Brazil sets a global standard, particularly in low-carbon emissions design.
This further strengthens the company's commitment to sustainability and innovation within the energy sector.
Yinson Production Brazil Country Manager, Thiago Freitas, said that the success of the project reflects the close cooperation between Malaysia and Brazil, as well as the ability of both countries to elevate global standards in the FPSO industry.
"We hope to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the years to come," he said.
The reception, held at the Windsor Barra Hotel, also celebrated the strong Malaysia-Brazil relationship, with the presence of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim; Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz; Foreign Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan; and Malaysia's Ambassador to Brazil, Gloria Corina.
Yinson's FPSO projects in Brazil, namely Anna Nery, Maria Quitéria, and Atlanta, were the highlights of the event.
The Anna Nery FPSO began operations in May 2023, while the Maria Quitéria FPSO reached its first oil production in October 2024.
The Atlanta FPSO is expected to start operations shortly, contributing to Brazil's energy capacity and economic development.
In his speech, the Prime Minister praised Yinson's capabilities, which showcase Malaysia's excellence on the global stage.
"This successful FPSO project reflects the trust and respect built between Malaysia and Brazil over the decades," he said.
"Yinson's exceptional work in Brazil highlights our commitment to global energy needs with full responsibility."
Yinson Group CEO Lim Chern Yuan reflected on the company's entry into the Brazilian market in 2018, which was then the world's largest FPSO market.
"Brazil offers a progressive business environment and stakeholders who share our mission for an inclusive and sustainable energy transition," he said.
The event also served as a platform to introduce Yinson Production's new office in Rio de Janeiro, which will be officially opened on Nov 18, 2024.
This opening reaffirms Yinson's long-term presence in Brazil, strengthening ties with key customers, stakeholders, and industry partners, while also creating socio-economic opportunities for the local community.
This close cooperation not only strengthens diplomatic relations between Malaysia and Brazil but also demonstrates Malaysia's ability to lead in innovative and environmentally-friendly energy technologies.
