KUALA LUMPUR: After recently concluding an 11-day packed schedule of working visits to four countries, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will travel to South Korea on Sunday to explore new economic opportunities and strengthen bilateral ties between Malaysia and the country.
In a post on his Facebook page, Anwar added that he will host Communist Party of Vietnam general secretary To Lam in Putrajaya tomorrow (Nov 22).
"God willing, my team and I are also actively preparing to welcome official visits from key world leaders in December," he said.
It was reported yesterday that Anwar arrived home after completing visits to Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Peru and Brazil from Nov 9 until yesterday. (hyperlink: https://www.nst.com.my/news/nation/2024/11/1137134/pm-returns-home-four-...)
During the visit, Anwar led the Malaysian delegation to key events, including the 31st Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) Economic Leaders' Week (AELW) in Peru and the G20 Summit in Brazil.
At the Extraordinary Arab and Islamic Summit in Riyadh, Anwar called on the global community to build a consensus on suspending or expelling Israel from the United Nations.
Anwar had also engaged with world leaders and reiterated Malaysia's commitment to driving sustainable growth, particularly as Malaysia prepares to chair Asean in 2025.
During his visit to the four countries, Anwar described it as an effort to rekindle Malaysia's "lustre" on the global stage.
"We have strengthened international relations and opened new pathways for opportunities that will benefit the prosperity of our people and nation, even as the global geopolitical landscape remains fraught with uncertainty.
"During the various official meetings and dialogues, our focus centred on enhancing cooperation in investments, trade, and shared initiatives that deliver tangible benefits to the people, particularly in Malaysia, and the Asean community.
"The greatest value lies not solely in the achievements or agreements reached, but in the spirit of togetherness and the earnest respect of the international community for Malaysia, which is a nation steadfast in upholding the values of humanity, justice, excellence, and inclusivity," he said.
Anwar added that the journey to enhancing Malaysia's image on the global stage is far from over.
"I pray that all these efforts will lay the foundation for a new trajectory towards a brighter future for Malaysia.
"My team and I in the unity government will continue to listen, serve, and uphold the dignity of our people and nation on the global stage."
