Pahang generates US$64 million in sales at halal showcase in Dubai

KUANTAN: Pahang secured US$63.9 million in sales at the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (Mihas) in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, recently.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said six halal product entrepreneurs from Pahang recorded US$8.7 million in actual sales and US$55.2 million in potential sales.

"Pahang achieved a commendable total sales of US$63.9 million at Mihas.

"The success is the result of the efforts put in by six exhibitors from Pahang who highlighted quality halal products on the international stage.

"The sales prove that halal products from Pahang can compete and meet the demands of the global market.

"Mihas has served as a platform to promote Pahang's high-quality, innovative and competitive halal products.

"Pahang's participation reflects the state government's commitment to support entrepreneurs break into the global market.

"This is in line with the state's aspirations to become a leader in the halal industry," he said on Facebook.

Wan Rosdy said he hopes more entrepreneurs and companies from Pahang will participate in Mihas next year.

"We will provide support to entrepreneurs to enable them to take advantage of bigger opportunities on the global stage.

"Their success will not only bring fame to Pahang but also prove that the state has potential to emerge as a centre for halal production and innovations."

The Pahang entrepreneurs at Mihas include Sungai Lembing Beef, Yayasan Pahang plantation and Jaman Tory marketing.

Mihas, which ran from Nov 18 to 20, featured 215 Malaysian companies, aiming to boost Malaysia's reputation as a global halal hub.

Last year, Wan Rosdy said the state government would intensify efforts to ensure more entrepreneurs in Pahang obtain halal certification to produce a wide range of halal food products for the domestic and foreign markets.
