4 Malaysians injured in Norway bus crash [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: KUALA LUMPUR: Wisma Putra has confirmed that four Malaysians were injured in an accident involving a tour bus near Lake Åsvatnet, Norway on Thursday.

Previously, it was reported that Malaysians were among those involved in the crash, which killed three and injured four.

However, media reports in Norway did not mention the nationalities of those who were killed and injured. The bus was also carrying tourists from China, Singapore, India, the Netherlands, South Sudan, France, and Ukraine.

In a statement today, Wisma Putra said the four who were injured are Malaysians.

They sustained minor injuries and have been placed at Thon Hotel in Lofoten.

"Due to ongoing investigations, these passengers are not permitted to use phones or communicate directly with the outside world."

"The hotel staff are also restricted from initiating contact with the passengers."

Wisma Putra said the consular team on the ground is working with Norwegian authorities to determine the total number of Malaysians involved and to provide the necessary assistance.

It also said the remoteness of the accident site, some 1,500km away from Norway's capital of Oslo, and severe weather posed "significant logistical challenges" in supporting the victims.

"The Foreign Affairs Ministry through the Malaysian Embassy in Stockholm is closely monitoring the developments."
