Selangor assembly gets police feedback on Faisal Halim case

SHAH ALAM: The Selangor police chief has responded to the State Legislative Assembly regarding the probe into the acid attack on footballer Faisal Halim.

Deputy Selangor Speaker Mohd Kamri Kamaruddin informed the assembly that a response was received from Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan concerning a motion filed by Abbas Salimmi Che Adzmi (PH-Amanah).

Kamri then read out Hussein's response:

"The police take this investigation seriously. The case has been taken over by Bukit Aman's Criminal Investigation Department, which has the expertise and tools to better identify and capture the suspects in this incident."

Last week, Selangor Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneurship Committee chairman Mohd Najwan Halimi said the state government had not yet received updates from the police on the investigation's progress.

Subsequently, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said the probe was ongoing and had never been stopped.

Razarudin added that although three people were arrested, no evidence linked them to the crime.

On May 5, Faisal, 26, suffered fourth-degree burns on several parts of his body after being doused with acid by an unknown assailant outside a mall.

In June, Faisal expressed hope that his attackers would be brought to justice.
