KAJANG: A mother has been arrested after a video showing a child sitting on the passenger door window of a moving car went viral.
Kajang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abd Yusof said police were alerted to the 28-second video at 11.15am today.
"The video is believed to have been recorded in Jalan Suadamai, Bandar Tun Hussein Onn.
"Based on our checks, the incident is believed to have taken place about 1.15pm on June 21," he said today.
He said the video showed a young girl sitting in a dangerous position on the passenger door window of a moving car.
"A 46-year-old woman was arrested at the Kajang district police headquarters at 4.50pm on Friday. The car involved has been seized.
"Checks revealed that the woman is blind in one eye and the child is mentally disabled."
He said police was probing the case under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act for abandoning, neglecting or exposing a child to danger.
He said police would also probe the case under Section 336 of the Penal Code for endangering human life or the safety of others.
"We advise parents and the community not to expose children to danger.
"Motorists should be courteous and abide by traffic rules."
