Fahmi offers condolences to Ananda Krishnan's family

KUALA LUMPUR: Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has expressed his condolences to the family of tycoon Ananda Krishnan, who died today.

Fahmi said the late corporate figure's contributions to the nation's development were undeniable and greatly appreciated.

"Condolences to the entire family of Usaha Tegas Sdn Bhd chairman Tan Sri Ananda Krishnan on his passing today. May the family of the late Tan Sri be granted patience and strength during this time of grief. May his soul rest in peace," he said in a Facebook post today.

Ananda's death, at the age of 86, was confirmed by his investment holding company, Usaha Tegas, in a statement.

Ananda, whose full name was Ananda Krishnan Tatparanandam, was among Malaysia's leading business figures and ranked as one of the wealthiest individuals in the country.

A Harvard Business School graduate, Ananda founded Usaha Tegas before establishing Maxis Communications and Measat Broadcast Network Systems. Under his leadership, Maxis emerged as one of Malaysia's leading telecommunications providers.-- BERNAMA
