PUTRAJAYA: A total of 19 researchers received the Malaysia Scopus Research Excellence Awards at the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE)-Elsevier awards ceremony, held in conjunction with the Putrajaya Festival of Ideas (FOI) 2024 yesterday.
Among the award recipients were Prof Datuk Dr Ahmad Fauzi Ismail from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Prof Dr Ahmad Zaharin Aris from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), and Prof Dr Nor Aishah Saidina Amin (UTM) for the Groundbreaking Contributions category.
The Research Innovations category award was presented to Prof Datuk Seri Dr Abdul Rahman Mohamed from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), while the Societal Impact category was awarded to Prof Datuk Dr Jafri Malin Abdullah (USM).
Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir presented the awards.
"The objective of this awards night is to give recognition to researchers who have produced high-quality scholarly publications that benefit and impact society and national development," said MOHE in a statement.
Meanwhile, 11 journals received the Scopus Journal CREME Award.
"The CREME status award was introduced in 2012 to recognise outstanding local journals published in the MOHE ecosystem with high potential to receive incentives.
"This initiative is to encourage and help to improve the performance of the journals further at the international level," the statement added.
The awards ceremony was organised in collaboration with Elsevier, a Netherlands-based company that plays an important role in research and publishing at the international level. – BERNAMA
