KUANTAN: Exciting news is on the horizon for low-income young adults in Pahang, as the state government plans to introduce its first high-rise affordable housing project next year.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail announced that the "Projek Pangsapuri Pahang" (Pahang Apartment Project) is aimed at helping youths in the B40 (low-income) group across the state own their first home.
"Land scarcity is increasing, and the state government is committed to ensuring the welfare of all age groups in Pahang. We are launching the apartment concept housing project, which will be expanded across all districts in phases," he said when tabling the 2025 Pahang Budget at Wisma Sri Pahang today.
He said that the state Land and Mines Office had been tasked with identifying suitable land in Kuantan for the pilot project, with plans to build similar apartments in all 11 districts of Pahang.
Later when met, Wan Rosdy said that it was still undecided whether the apartment units would be offered through a rent-to-own scheme or provided to those in need at no charge.
He also said that the state's initiatives under the Bantuan Prihatin Pahang (BPP) and Pahang Makmur programmes, aimed at assisting the public, would be rebranded as the Makmur Pahang initiative or I.M. Pahang.
Earlier, Wan Rosdy outlined a revenue target of RM1.194 billion for 2025, representing a 5 per cent increase over the 2024 budget.
He also detailed allocations of RM399.64 million for development and RM1.1 billion for operating expenditures.
