SHAH ALAM: The recently elected Bersatu Youth Wing (Armada) chief, Muhammad Hilman Idham, said the party president and the Perikatan Nasional chairman, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yasin, would become the party and the coalition's 'supreme commander' ahead of the 16th general election.
He said Muhyiddin is the number one leader of the coalition and would lead PN to once again become the federal government.
"Muhyiddin is the supreme commander of Bersatu and PN.
"Entire army of Armada, are we all ready? Muhyiddin is the commander, and Armada is its army. Armada is the army that rows the Bersatu vessel according to Muhyiddin's steering map," Hilman said when delivering his keynote speech at the Bersatu General Annual Assembly.
He said under the eighth prime minister's leadership, PN has managed to become the largest bloc in Parliament after the 15th general election and could generate substantive changes to the country in ensuring all its people well-being and a more dignified life.
The remarks came after internal disputes within PN became evident when Bersatu's vice president, Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, proposed Muhyiddin as PN's sole candidate for the prime minister's post for the upcoming general election.
However, Pas Spiritual Leader, Hashim Jasin, rejected the proposal. He insisted that Pas was more qualified to lead PN due to its larger number of members of parliament - 43 compared to Bersatu's 25.
Last month, Hilman took over the Armada leadership from Machang Member of Parliament, Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal, after winning the wing election.
He defeated Akmal Zahin Zainal Zahir with 1,888 votes.
Moreover, Hilman, who is also the Gombak Setia assemblyman, vowed that Armada under his leadership would remain loyal and steadfast with the party president until the coalition manages to become the government once again.
He said currently PN sits in the most strategic position in the country's political landscape, which could be translated into a new political realignment.
"PN is in the most strategic position within the country's political landscape. At any time, we can realign political consensus to form a formidable coalition in Putrajaya," he said.
Besides, he also said that the Madani government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's political compass has already deviated as reforms were raised by the latter only to defend his position.
He claimed previously Anwar was the one who fought the Sedition Act 1948, but today the usage of the law is frequent.
"It is our duty to overthrow the Madani regime. The entire Armada force must work hard and fight to carry the torch of Bersatu and PN's struggle back to Putrajaya," said Hilman.
