JERANTUT: Eleven Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) invigilators were forced to rely on Civil Defence Force (APM) boats as their only means of transport to their examination centres after the Sungai Kerak bridge was cut off by floods today.
A state APM spokesperson said that the invigilators were scheduled to oversee the oral examination at SMA Al-Basriah and SMK Kuala Tembeling at 7.30am, but were unable to reach their destinations due to the submerged road.
"Six invigilators were assigned to SMA Al-Basriah, while five were to be at SMK Kuala Tembeling. They were transported across the floodwaters by boat and then driven to their respective schools in APM's Navara four-wheel-drive vehicles," he said.
After the examination ended, the invigilators were again ferried back by boat at 4pm.
The Jerantut-Kuala Tembeling road was submerged under 0.76 metres of water, with an 80-metre stretch near the Sungai Kerak bridge completely inundated.
The SPM examinations began today with candidates taking the Bahasa Melayu oral test.
