PNB contributes RM4 million in flood aid

KUALA LUMPUR: Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) said it has allocated RM4 million for flood relief efforts.

In a statement, PNB said the contribution would be used to provide immediate assistance and facilitate long-term recovery for those affected by floods, focusing on areas such as Kota Baru, Pasir Mas, Gua Musang, Bachok and Tumpat in Kelantan, Besut, Dungun and Hulu Terengganu in Terengganu, Kubang Pasu and Kota Star in Kedah, Tampin in Negri Sembilan and Selangor.

The aid is for food supplies and necessities such as tents, blankets, mattresses and hygiene kits.

The allocation is also for school and essential supplies for families, home repairs, restoring healthcare services and enhancing water, sanitation and hygiene initiatives once the flood recedes.

PNB said the contribution would be distributed through partnerships with delivery organisations including Yayasan Ikhlas, Mercy Malaysia, Malaysian Islamic Economic Development Foundation and Malaysia Relief Agency.

"About RM900,000 has been disbursed to procure a rescue boat and other items such as school uniforms, shoes and bags, disaster emergency bags, and for a community programme.

"As we anticipate the continuing challenges posed by year-end floods, PNB will remain proactive in our approach and work closely with our delivery partners to ensure impactful assistance to Malaysians affected by the floods."
