KUALA LUMPUR: The visionary behind Maxis, Astro, KLCC, and the late chairman of Usaha Tegas Sdn Bhd, Ananda Krishnan, was laid to rest at the Loke Yew Crematorium on Wednesday afternoon.
According to Astro Awani, the funeral procession began at his Brickfields residence at 9.45am, following a Hindu religious ceremony.
The event was attended by about 100 family members and close friends, including former Transport Minister Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik.
Yesterday, people from all walks of life gathered in solemn tribute to bid farewell to the late business tycoon as early as 2pm.
In a gesture of humility and respect for privacy, the media was not permitted inside the premises, following a request from Ananda's family.
Known for his low-profile demeanour, Ananda built a diversified empire encompassing telecommunications, media, and energy through his company, Usaha Tegas.
Despite his business acumen, Ananda remained deeply committed to philanthropy.
His charitable activities have provided scholarships and support to countless individuals, reflecting his dedication to uplifting society.
