Sabah graft claim: Gagasan Rakyat Youth rejects provocations, backs MACC probe

KOTA KINABALU: Attempts to provoke Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah members into baseless social media discussions will be ignored, says its Youth Chief Datuk Fairuz Renddan.

He was responding to Sabah Umno Youth Chief Sufian Abd Karim's call for Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor to resign over recent corruption allegations involving several assemblymen.

A series of videos showing them engaged in talks with a businessman has been made public on social media.

"The call for the chief minister to step down is baseless.

"Based on the videos released, there is no mention of the chief minister being involved," he said.

He pointed out that the footage also revealed Hajiji's concern about the influence of cartel members.

Fairuz said the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) was aware of the videos and have initiated investigations into the matter.

"It's best all parties wait until the MACC reveals, if it thinks it's necessary, their findings."

The chief minister has made it clear that the government has nothing to hide, he said.

He said Gagasan Rakyat Youth has full confidence in the MACC carrying out its duty.
