LANGKAWI: The Langkawi Development Authority (Lada), in partnership with its three subsidiaries, has donated RM72,000 in aid to flood victims in Kedah.
Lada's CEO Datuk Haslina Abdul Hamid said that RM50,000 was allocated for essential supplies, while RM20,000 was distributed as cash assistance to those affected by the disaster.
"Lada, alongside its subsidiaries — Panorama Langkawi Sdn Bhd, Langkawi Port Sdn Bhd, and Langsura Geopark Sdn Bhd — has been actively involved in corporate social responsibility efforts to support flood victims in Kubang Pasu and Kota Setar," she said in a press conference today.
"We hope the aid, distributed through Pertubuhan Harapan Sepakat Majmuk, will help ease the burden on residents in these districts," she said.
Earlier, Haslina witnessed the handover of two BMW electric vehicles by Lee Motors Auto Care to Langkawi Runners, the organisers of the 2024 Langkawi International Half Marathon (LIHM), at the Lada Complex.
On the upcoming LIHM, Haslina said that the event had set a new record, with 4,200 participants from 28 countries already confirmed.
"LIHM has become one of the most anticipated running events for enthusiasts worldwide, with all slots fully booked within just seven days of opening registration on April 27."
She also said that Investment, Trade, and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz, was among the prominent figures confirmed to participate in this year's event.
