KUALA LUMPUR: A DAP member of parliament has urged for a leadership change at the Human Resources Development Corporation (HRD Corp).
Making the call, Kota Melaka MP Khoo Poay Tiong said the change was needed despite the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) clearing its management of any misconduct.
"While MACC found no evidence of corruption in this matter, we have a Madani government that prioritises good governance. We also emphasise transparency and integrity.
"The findings of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and the 2024 Auditor General's (AG) Report provide enough evidence to justify such a change is needed," he said when debating PAC's report on follow-up action by the Human Resources Ministry on HRD Corp based on the recommendations given by the committee in its report, in the Dewan Rakyat today.
In his debate, Khoo highlighted that HRD Corp's response to PAC recommendations indicates that the corporation did not take the suggestions seriously.
"Its response was merely that it would review it (the suggestions)."
According to the report released by PAC, it was concluded that there were no violations of the MACC Act in the management of HRD Corp.
In the report, PAC revealed that MACC officer Mohd Fuad Sedet confirmed this during proceedings with the anti-graft agency.
Bayan Baru MP and PAC member Sim Tze Tzin, who earlier presented the PAC report, said the committee was puzzled that the HRD Corp case was classified as no further action (NFA) by MACC.
"The PAC committee was informed by MACC in the follow-up action proceedings that the HRD Corp case was classified as NFA after the AG's and PAC reports tabled in July.
"It is puzzling as the AG's Report report had indicated elements of criminal activity or abuse of power in HRD Corp.
"PAC itself, through 10 proceedings held from October last year to March this year, found evidence of abuse of power in HRD Corp."
