JOHOR BARU: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested three officers from the Johor Immigration Department as part of an investigation into alleged breaches of integrity.
The operation, conducted jointly by the MACC and the federal Immigration Department, took place at the state immigration headquarters.
State Immigration director Datuk Mohd Rusdi Mohd Darus confirmed the arrests, adding that the officers were accused of misconduct.
"We will fully cooperate with the MACC's investigation and remain committed to transparency and fairness.
"We do not tolerate any misconduct or integrity violations and will take firm action, regardless of rank or position," he told the New Straits Times last night.
He added that the MACC had yet to disclose the specifics of the allegations or the identities of the officers involved.
Investigations are ongoing, with further updates expected soon.
Yesterday, the NST reported that three senior immigration officers and a business owner were detained on suspicion of corruption and money laundering activities related to the misuse of foreign visa applications.
The officers, including a woman, are suspected of accepting RM1.2 million in bribes.
The 40-year-old female officer was detained for 24 hours before being released, while the other three suspects, including the businessman, are expected to be remanded.
Rusdi said that the Immigration Department was dedicated to upholding governance, discipline, and integrity as core principles in restoring its image and reputation.
